Coordinate grazing angles, fabric, channels and access so illuminated acoustic walls remain refined and serviceable.
Fabric reveals every inconsistency
Grazing light exaggerates texture, seams, frame edges and variations in tension. A wall that looks uniform under ambient construction light can show stripes or shadow lines once a concealed LED source is switched on.
Coordinate the build-up
Channel depth, distance from the fabric, diffusion and the position of acoustic frames determine the final gradient. The light source must also remain clear of absorbers, membranes and fabric fixing details while retaining a service route.
Mock up the junctions
Corners, door reveals, column edges and transitions between fabric panels are where the effect usually succeeds or fails. Test a representative full-height section and agree what should be visible before repeating it around the room.
Good cinema lighting gives the room exactly enough information—and no more.
A practical specification sequence
Define the visual intent and the scene in which the light will operate. Confirm the fitting, driver, control method, circuit and physical access together. Build a representative mock-up where the detail is sensitive, then commission the final level from every seating position with the projection system running.
