LED Strip, Channels & Diffusion

LED Strip, Channels & Diffusion

A line of light—not a row of dots.

Strip density, channel depth, lens choice, heat management and service access all determine the finished result.

A diffuser cannot fix every channel

Visible dots are influenced by LED pitch, distance to the lens, lens transmission and viewing angle. A shallow profile with sparse tape may still show hotspots through an opal cover. Deeper channels or denser tape often solve the problem more elegantly.

Manage voltage and heat

Long runs can lose brightness and change colour toward the far end. Feed strategy, conductor size and driver placement need calculation. Aluminium profiles provide a useful thermal path, but only when they are correctly sized and installed against suitable material.

Design for replacement

LED tape and drivers will eventually require service. Avoid burying drivers behind fixed acoustic construction or creating channels that cannot be opened without damaging finishes. A continuous line of light is only premium if it can remain continuous over time.

Good cinema lighting gives the room exactly enough information—and no more.

A practical specification sequence

Define the visual intent and the scene in which the light will operate. Confirm the fitting, driver, control method, circuit and physical access together. Build a representative mock-up where the detail is sensitive, then commission the final level from every seating position with the projection system running.
