Why it fits
Rako can combine wired and wireless devices, making it useful where the construction route differs between the cinema and the rest of the property.

Rako Lighting for Private Cinemas
Wired and wireless lighting control that can be a strong fit for retrofit rooms and focused cinema projects.
Rako is a focused lighting-control alternative with genuinely useful wired and wireless routes. It can suit a dedicated cinema, a carefully managed retrofit, or a project that wants scene control without making a broader automation platform the centre of the brief.
Rako can combine wired and wireless devices, making it useful where the construction route differs between the cinema and the rest of the property.
Dedicated scene recall is straightforward, while separate raise/lower or blind functions can remain available without crowding the everyday experience.
Wireless solves cable constraints, not design decisions. Loads, receivers, communication paths, button intent and third-party integration still require a documented plan.

EOS uses an all-metal, screwless fascia and is available in wired and wireless NFC versions. Up to six configurable buttons can operate scenes, blinds or audio functions. The plate is intentionally clean, so the keypad can sit comfortably beside dark fabric, timber or traditional metal accessories.
Custom button engraving is ordered through Rako’s Plate Designer. We use the same discipline as the scene schedule: concise labels, a clear everyday hierarchy and no unexplained engineering language. On lighter or highly reflective finishes the engraving is naturally subtler, so legibility should be reviewed with a physical sample.

Rako’s seven hand-finished fascia options allow the control to coordinate with dark cinema interiors or matching electrical accessories. The choice between EOS and Modular is then driven by button count, visual restraint and the number of functions that deserve direct access.

Rako offers more than one visual and tactile language. These are the additional ranges we would consider for a private cinema.

Company & design legacy
Since 2002Rako was established in 2002 and was among the early companies bringing wireless lighting control to residential properties and luxury developments. Its story is rooted in lighting control specifically, with products designed and manufactured in the United Kingdom.
Rako made scene-based control achievable where extensive new control wiring was difficult or undesirable. That wireless origin continues to matter in completed homes, heritage buildings and cinema retrofits where the construction route must be respected.
The range has grown beyond its wireless beginnings into wired, wireless and hybrid architectures. That makes Rako unusually adaptable: the system can follow the realities of the building while retaining one scene language at the keypads.
Rako states that its products are designed and manufactured in the UK at an ISO 9001 facility, with close control of production and stock. In-house engineering, compatibility guidance and an installer-support culture are important strengths in a market where LED loads change quickly.
Our specification position
Rako is our focused alternative when a dedicated cinema needs genuine lighting control without making a larger automation ecosystem the centre of the brief. Its wired and wireless choices, direct scene philosophy and adaptable module range are particularly useful for retrofits, mixed-construction projects and rooms that benefit from a simpler control architecture.
